The Tram

Tram # 1: Waiting

I chose the tram as a theme as I travelled to work and back every day and often sketched or took photos. This painting was inspired by waiting on the platform at dusk as the sunset, capturing detail and colour using a palette knife.

Tram # 2: At night

Capturing the sense of anonymity particularly prevalent on the tram at night. The familiar bright yellow handrails and stanchions helps to decode the image.

Tram # 3: Point Indicators

The point indicators are very synonymous with the tram tracks around Manchester. This piece again, attempts to depict the familiar but in an unfamiliar form.

Light in the dark

I took a photo from the tram at night. There were tiny flashes of residual light from the city which when enlarged, created a luminosity that looked like something under an electron microscope.
